Today at the garden we ran into a turtle friend greeting us by the gate as we arrived at the garden to plant additional plants and clear some weeds.
With the radishes cleared, we planted a few pepper plants in the garden bed. We also planted some herbs; cilantro, parsley, and rosemary. Finally, we replaced tomato and cucumber plants that had died.

We visited the garden on Saturday morning and found several vegetables were ready for picking. We pulled all of the radishes from their garden bed. Clipped all the mature swiss chard and lettuces from their beds as well.
We tried to drop them off at the Westchester Community Center, but they did not have enough refrigerator space in their temporary space and do not distribute food until mid-week, so we dropped off the vegetables at the homes of Temple members including the Mellin, Rand and Segal households in Katonah.
We also found some of the cucumber plants had died, so we went to the garden store and purchased cucumber plants, as well as a tomato plant, and additional herbs to plant later this week.
We plan on returning to the garden (weather permitting) on the following dates and times. Temple members and volunteers who are interested in helping at the garden are welcome to join on these dates:
- Sunday, July 6, 10 am-12 pm
- Sunday, July 20, 10 am-12 pm
- Sunday, August 10, 10 am-12 pm
