Rabbi Ross’ Message, 4/18/25
April 18, 2025Thursday was quite a night at Temple Shaaray Tefila! More than 100 strong women joined us for our much-anticipated Annual Women’s Wander Seder. Led by our beloved Cantor Ines, the memorable event began with cocktails, a fun charoset-tasting contest, and creative crafting, followed by a moving service and delicious Passover meal. The cantor shared inspiring stories of righteous Jewish women leaders who aided our Exodus from Egypt—and also recognized modern-day women leaders in our congregation. A true highlight of the evening: A rousing Passover rendition of “My Favorite Things”—a must-sing at your own Seder table!
Here are the lyrics:
Cleaning and cooking and so many dishes,
Out with the chameitz, no pasta, no knishes.
Fish that’s gefilted, horseradish that stings;
These are a few of my favorite things.
Matzah and karpas and chopped up charoset,
Shank bones and Kiddush and Yiddish neuroses,
An aunt who kevetches, an uncle who sings;
These are a few of my favorite things.
Motzi and maror and trouble with Pharaoh,
Famines and locusts and slaves with wheelbarrows,
Matzah balls floating and eggshell that clings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the plagues strike, when the lice bite,
When we’re feeling sad,
We simply remember our Passover things,
And then we don’t feel so bad.
