Honoring 50 Years of TST and Rabbi Greenberg
October 27, 2025
Tonight is a night filled with gratitude—and wonder. Fifty years since a
small group of dreamers came together to plant the seed of what
would become our beloved congregation.
When I think back to those early days—when we met in rented spaces
and in people’s homes and setting up the chairs—I’m reminded that
what builds a congregation is not the building or the beautiful grounds,
but people. The spirit of the people and the shared purpose they
embrace defines who and what we are as a temple.
I had the privilege of being here in those first years, as a student rabbi,
filled with a lot of optimism as to what this congregation might one day
become. I could not have imagined then the blessing it would be to
serve this community for fifty years. To celebrate with you in moments
of joy, to try to comfort in times of loss. To teach and learn together, to
watch children grow into adults, and now see their children call this
their spiritual home.
I want to thank the countless leaders and volunteers who have given of
themselves through the years. Presidents and board members,
teachers and musicians, those who have cooked, taught, visited,
organized, built, repaired, and prayed. Each of you has left an imprint
on the life of this congregation.
And to all of you, members old and new, thank you for allowing me to
share in your lives. You have been my teachers, my friends and in so
many cases, my inspiration.
As we celebrate fifty years, we also look ahead. The future of this
temple will be built on the same foundation that has sustained us from
the beginning: faith, kindness, and a sense of belonging. May we
continue to grow, to learn, to care, and to serve together.
I hope you will join us this evening for a very special Shabbat.
Rabbi Emeritus David Greenberg
