Preparing for Yom Hashoah: A Call for Personal Stories and Reflections on Family Connections

I want to write to you about Yom Hashoah, even though it is not yet Passover, because we are taking on a new initiative at Temple Shaary Tefila, with the support of our Holocaust Remembrance Committee under the leadership of our devoted co-chairs, Ali Rosenberg and Lori Laub.

Several of you have already and graciously responded to our call for written family reflections to be placed in a growing Temple Holocaust archive. These reflections can include stories told by relatives to be handed down through the generations, personal memories, or other ways that you and loved ones have experienced this painful time in Jewish history. Your reflections will be distributed at our Temple’s Yom Hashoah commemoration on April 14 and added to our permanent collection. Please send them to me electronically at RabbiRoss@TempleST.org.

As the years carry on, Temple Shaaray Tefila is committed to commemorating and teaching about the Holocaust, and perpetuating the memory.
