Sisterhood Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
September 12, 2024A Message From Rabbi Greenberg – 9/27/24
September 24, 2024Questions about Jewish funeral and mourning practices are among the most frequently asked questions any Jewish clergy will receive. People ask us questions like, “Is cremation permitted in Reform Judaism?” or “I know that the shivah morning period is seven days. Can we do fewer?” or “I remember something about a Jewish funeral needing to be within 24 hours. We have family flying in from all over. Can we wait a couple days extra?” To all of these, the answer is, “Yes!” And, more crucially, having a conversation about these matters is so important.
See this article by Stephanie Garry, Executive Vice President of Communal Partnerships at Plaza Jewish Community Chapel and Temple Shaaray Tefila past president, which is a great way to begin that conversation. And of course, feel free to reach out to the Cantor or me if you want to talk. It is an important conversation to have.
In addition, Temple Shaaray Tefila will be offering and sponsoring a number of October 7 commemorative programs and activities. Please keep an eye open for a special email
With best wishes,
Rabbi Dennis Ross
