Sustainability & Beautification Day
May 1, 2022
April 28, 2022

Dear Friends,

Come with your family and friends for FUN this Sunday to celebrate our Temple Sustainability & Beautification Day. Learn about Solar Power, Composting, and Electric Cars. ABC Network celebrity meteorologist, Lee Goldberg, will present about how our extreme local weather is affected by the environment’s health. Local flowers and food will be featured, including Falafel in honor of Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s 74th Birthday. Join us in gardening and caring for our piece of the earth.

Over two thousand years ago, in the Land of Israel a legend was written about the need to care for our fragile and precious world.

“When God created Adam and Eve, God took them around to see all the trees in the Garden of Eden and said to them, “See my handiwork, how beautiful and fine they are…Be careful not to ruin and destroy my world, for if you do ruin it, there is no one to come after you to fix it.” (Kohelet Rabbah).

In the Book of Genesis, the Torah teaches it’s up to us to “tend and till the Garden.” To care for our environment is an ancient mitzvah. No one else can do it for us. This is our responsibility, this is our Jewish mission to make our world healthier today and for generations to come.

Join us this Sunday for fun, food, friends and for the sacred work of caring for our planet.

Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi David Wilfond
