Cook to Care: Kitchen Creations for Donations
On Wednesday, October 28th, 50 Shaaray congregants gathered virtually on 34 computers to battle hunger and enjoy cooking and camaraderie. Under the leadership of Chef Paolo Catini of Basso56 in NYC, and following his superb recipe for his special Sangria, we cooked the following:
approx. 30 trays of chicken enchiladas that could feed about 200 people
20 quarts of black bean soup
delivered to the temple for donation with avocado, cilantro and sour cream accoutrements

Over the last six months, we distributed 8000 hot meals and sandwiches, a dozen pizzas, thousands of snacks, fruits and drinks to a Homeless shelter for “drop-ins” in Yonkers. We continue to do this so if you want to get involved just contact socialaction@templest.org or rleroy634@gmail.com. We need people who are willing to make sandwiches, or pick up sandwiches from donors and deliver to the shelter, all without any direct contact.
