September 5, 2024Preparing for the High Holidays: A Spiritual Opportunity
Thursday, September 19th at 7pm
As the High Holidays approach, our thoughts might turn to whether the kids are coming in from college or out of town, or which friend or relative will be holding the break the fast. Yet Judaism also calls for spiritual preparation, asking us to turn our thoughts and hearts to larger questions, as well. Rabbi Ross will offer, "Preparing for the High Holidays: A Spiritual Opportunity," to explore the themes and ideals of the High Holiday Machzor prayer book and offer time for reflection, Thursday, September 19th at 7pm, in person and with a zoom option.
Sukkah Building!
Join us on our temple grounds on, the second day of Rosh Hashanah, to help build the Sukkah. Bring your power tools, gloves and working clothes! Many hands make light work! We are also welcoming donations this week of mums, gourds or other fall decorative materials to put in the Sukkah.
Volunteer to Usher this High Holy Day season
Would you like to help usher at the High Holy Days? You can meet more of your fellow congregants, help others enjoy the services and still have time to enjoy them yourself? No experience necessary. Contact Jonathan Green or call the office.
Would You Like to Blow the Shofar Rosh Hashanah Morning and at the End of Neilah
Join Our Choir - We Need Your Voice!
Music adds to the beauty of our High Holiday services at Caramoor. Through melodies we've sung for years, we convey our jewish culture while helping people concentrate on their prayers and achieve their spiritual goals. Join us and lift your voice to help others! Our choir is open to the entire community. You don’t need training or proficiency in Hebrew. When we all sing together, our prayers fly higher! Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays at 7pm starting a month before the High Holidays. For more information contact Cantor Szterenberg.
Sukkot Fest - October 20th
The Green Team will provide Sukkot and sustainability-themed games to reinforce the connection between this holiday and our responsibilities to care for our earth. There will be several stations of fun activities which will strengthen the connections among our Jewish values, climate change and the wonderful festival of Sukkot.
