This year marks a significant milestone as we honor the 80th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. We invite you to stand with us in solidarity during this commemorative service. \nWe are honored to have Rabbi Sandy Zisser\, our Religious School Director\, share his deeply personal connection to the Holocaust. Rabbi Sandy is a child of Holocaust survivors; both of his parents\, along with three of his four grandparents\, endured the horrors of this dark chapter in history. His mother and grandmother faced the horrors of Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen. At the same time\, his father and grandparents found themselves arrested and sent to Siberia\, falsely accused of espionage by the Russians at the onset of World War II. \nRabbi Sandy’s family story is one of resilience\, an unyielding determination to survive\, and a good amount of random luck. As we gather to remember and to learn\, Rabbi Sandy’s narrative promises to be a moving testament to the undefeatable spirit of those who survived the Holocaust. \nWe sincerely hope you will join us for this significant event as we pay tribute to the survivors and remember the victims. Together\, let us renew our commitment to never forget\, and to ensure such atrocities are never repeated. \n  \n  \n \n  \n

This year\, the Temple’s Green Team is once again hosting a wonderful tree and shrub planting opportunity for you and your family to invest in a greener future. \nThe Tu b’shevat Sapling Sale! \nWe are offering up a lovely selection of tree and shrub saplings which you can purchase to plant on your own property. \nBy participating in this sapling sale\, you will be doing your part to grow more trees and shrubs in New York\, a part of future forests\, for ourselves and for future generations. \n ORDERING INFORMATION: \n 1) Native Tree Saplings\, $12\, two saplings with each order \n\nSycamore –  fast growing trees that can grow to 100 feet\, with distinctive bark that peels away in white patches; provide food and shelter for birds and other wildlife; help stabilize soil and contribute to air purification\nBurr Oak – known for its massive trunk and particularly large acorns; popular as a shade tree; valuable food source for wildlife; can grow to 100 feet\n\n\n2) Native Shrub Package\, $18\, a mix of four small shrubs. Beautiful accents that provide food\, pollination sources and habitat for native insects and wildlife as well as food for your family. \nEach package includes one of each of these four shrubs: \n\nHighbush Cranberry\nBlack Chokeberry\nBeach Plum\nSand Cherry\n\n \nOrders start on Tu-b’Shevat and continue until we are sold out. \nPick up in May (date TBD).\nNotes: Saplings are small (approximately 5-12 inches high) and can take 2-3 years to get established.
