ISRAEL ACTION COMMITTEE

The purpose of the Israel Action Committee is to strengthen the bond between and our Temple community.  Our mission is to mend some of the hurt in ; to extend a hand of friendship, provide encouragement and support our Israeli families. We established an awareness of the needs of the citizens, our brethren, of and stay actively involved in aiding various causes. We strive to bring awareness to our community and our religious school students.

Our dedicated committee members, as well as, our Temple family are committed to making a difference by offering  financial  and emotional support to over 78 survivors of terror and their  families. Some of our other activities: we have raised funds for youth centers, built a playground in Tel Aviv, supplied soldiers with needed warm clothing, aided  group homes and  hot food programs. We have held concerts, the latest of which provided Rambam Hospital with much needed monitors and X-ray equipment. Israeli students spent ten days with our host families and built relationships with our kids, and more.

We welcome new members. We meet a few times a year and seek members who understand and are committed to further the deep ties between and a devoted temple in Northern Westchester .

We have embarked on a congregational tzedakah project to help and support Israel. Please click here for the details.

This photo from Sderot, shows the presentation of NOW ISRAEL's donation to the representative from Afikim B' Negev. We were represented by Rabbi  Goldscheider and congregants from Mt. Kisco Hebrew Congregation, who, by good chance, were traveling to Sderot just as we completed our fundraiser.

We raised approximately $24,000; roughly half went to Afikim B'Negev and half to set up a Free Loan Association dedicated to Sderot. (The representative of the Israel Free Loan Association missed the meeting, because of a close call that day with a Qassam missile.)
Rabbi Goldscheider expressed our community's support of the residents of Sderot. In turn, we were told how much our support meant to the people, who face in-coming misslies every day.
