Message from the President

Dear Prospective Congregant,

Thanks to the foresight of a group of committed individuals, what started as a small congregation 35 years ago is today one of the most vibrant synagogues in Westchester.  What began as a dream of a small number of families is today the reality of nearly 1,000 families coming together from many diverse neighborhoods to form one community.

There are many reasons to choose Temple Shaaray Tefila as your Jewish home. Whether we come together to worship, to learn or to celebrate, we find meaning, friendship and true community. Whether we turn to one another at times of need, or when we are able to join together to celebrate our good fortune, we come together as community. When we turn to the Temple to help us better understand national and international events, and when we join together in solidarity to Israel, we become a true community of learners and activists.

We are thankful to be blessed with inspirational clergy, dedicated professional staff, and committed lay leadership. As the current president of our temple, I stand on the shoulders of all of those who came before me. I recognize how significant it is to be blessed each day by our founding rabbi, Rabbi Greenberg, and by Rabbi Nevarez and Rabbi Bergman, who together lead us in worship and understanding.

We have been fortunate over so many years to have attracted the most dedicated professional staff, and today we are as strong as ever thanks to our Executive Director, Barbara Merson. I can personally attest to the commitment, dedication and love for our Temple felt by the staff members who serve us so well each day.  We are truly one community.

As I am humbled by those Temple leaders who came before us, as I am proud of Temple Shaaray Tefila today, I am hopeful and confident that we will continue to grow and flourish. I look forward to welcoming you as a member of our congregation.

Sincerely,

Joel Adelberg
