Holocaust Remembrance

The Holocaust Remembrance Committee is dedicated to Holocaust remembrance and education in order to promote tolerance.  The committee works closely with the Temple ’s Religious School to develop programs for children and their parents.  In its efforts to advance Holocaust teaching, the committee also seeks to build and foster relationships with the larger Jewish and non-Jewish communities and to collaborate with local high schools and institutions such as the Westchester Holocaust Education Center and the Simon Wiesenthal New York Tolerance Center , among others.  Each year, HRC organizes the Temple ’s Yom Hashoah service, seeking always to enhance the ritual with fresh meaning.  In addition, HRC continues its work to identify and honor Righteous Gentiles.  We encourage all to visit the Holocaust Memorial located on the Temple grounds in the garden area outside the Sanctuary.

The Israel Action Committee and The Holocaust Remembrance Committee present the Academy Award winning documentary The Long Way Home on Sunday, May 17th at 7pm. Masterfully narrated by Morgan Freeman, the film examines the plight of tens of thousands of refugees who survived the Holocaust and their clandestine attempts to get to the Jewish homeland.
